Hungary passes its first Artificial intelligence law

Hungary’s Parliament has passed the country’s first artificial intelligence law. According to the government, the goal is to ensure that Hungarian businesses and everyday users can work with AI in a safe and transparent way — and avoid falling behind in the global technology race.

Robotic Hand Assists Hearing Restoration Surgeries at Semmelweis University

With the help of a new robotic surgical device, successful cochlear implantations have been performed on children and adults at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Clinic at Semmelweis University, Faculty of Medicine. The device will remain at the clinic for an extended period of time, allowing for numerous similar hearing improvement surgeries and providing data for research as a collaborating center. This surgical innovation provides an even safer and more precise surgical technique for children and adult patients undergoing hearing rehabilitation.
 

13,000 Lives Saved: Major Organ Transplant Milestone Reached

Hungary has reached a major milestone in transplant medicine, with the 13,000th organ transplant successfully performed on September 4 — a life-saving liver transplant carried out at Semmelweis University’s Department of Surgery, Transplantation and Gastroenterology. The announcement came in a statement from the Organ Coordination Office of the Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service (OVSZ) on Wednesday.
