As the fourth wave is ongoing in Hungary, there might be some worrying numbers when it comes to those infected, as well as deaths due to the virus. A high number of people are vaccinated in Hungary but this alone may not be enough, according to more than 20 health experts. However, the Orbán administration does not plan to reintroduce restrictions and emphasizes personal responsibility and freedom of choice.

Hungary’s national vaccine plant will this year receive the technology from Russia to produce the Sputnik coronavirus vaccine, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Thursday in Moscow, after talks with Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko.

On Wednesday, the deadline for the coronavirus vaccination of health care workers expired, so unvaccinated people automatically leave the system. According to media reports, there are several hundred employees who did not want to be vaccinated and therefore lost their jobs in healthcare.
